UTP 6020 Electrode
Description
UTP 6020 is recommended for the construction and repair of fine-grained, quenched and tempered (Q&T) steels with a tensile strength greater than 760 MPa. It is also suitable for welding low-alloy steels. Common applications include the construction of bridges, pipelines, and spherical tanks for liquefied gas, as well as installations with operating temperatures as low as -50°C.
Characteristics
- Versatility: Easily applied in all positions, except for vertical-down.
- Efficiency: Excellent slag detachability and a 115% recovery rate.
- Quality: Produces a tough, crack-resistant deposit.
- Precision: The electrode’s ignition tip helps eliminate porosity at the start of the arc.
Welding Instructions
- Maintain a short arc.
- The electrode weave (oscillation) should not exceed three times the core wire diameter.
- Re-drying: Use only dry electrodes. Electrodes that have been exposed to atmospheric moisture must be re-dried at a temperature between 250°C and 300°C for 2 to 3 hours.
Preheating
Preheating should be performed according to the specific requirements of the base metal.
Heat Treatment
If post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) is required, it must be conducted in accordance with the specifications of the base material.
