620 MPa deposits for high-strength steels
Lincoln Electric Excalibur® 9018M MR® (AWS E9018M H4R) is a low-alloy, low-hydrogen electrode designed to produce 620 MPa (90 ksi) weld deposits. It is the choice for steels such as HY-80, HY-90 and ASTM A514 and for cross-country pipeline repair. In 3.20 mm, the most versatile diameter, it performs in root, fill and out-of-position welding.
Key advantages
- High strength: 640 to 690 MPa tensile strength.
- Very low hydrogen: 1 to 3 ml/100 g diffusible hydrogen.
- Low-temperature toughness: up to 114 J Charpy impact at -50 °C.
- MR coating: resists moisture pickup.
- Certified quality: ABS and CWB approvals.
Applications
- High-strength steels HY-80, HY-90 and ASTM A514.
- Cross-country pipeline repair.
- Structures and equipment requiring 620 MPa deposits.
- All-position welding except vertical-down.

Technician's tip: Lincoln's MR coating resists moisture pickup, but this is still a low-hydrogen electrode: once the can is open, keep it in a holding oven and avoid leaving it exposed during the shift.
