Wearshield T&D Electrode
Description
Basic coated electrode. It produces a high-speed steel deposit similar to M-1 tool steel. The deposited material is air-hardening. Additionally, it features excellent arc characteristics, good restriking, and low spatter levels.
Weld using the drag technique.
Highlights
Wearshield T&D produces a crack-free, wear-resistant tool steel deposit with a hardness of 58-62 HRc. This hardness can be increased up to 63-65 HRc after tempering ($540\text{--}600^{\circ}\text{C}$). It is particularly suitable for applications involving severe metal-to-metal friction combined with high temperatures (up to $540^{\circ}\text{C}$). Ideal for rebuilding worn steel dies, edges and bodies of cutting tools, or for applying wear-resistant surfaces onto carbon and low-alloy steels.
Typical Applications
- Drawing punches
- Casting dies
- Cutting tools
- Shear blades
