UTP 68H Electrode
Description
UTP 68 H is recommended for joining Cr-Ni, Cr-Si, and Cr-Al steels, among others, which are resistant to working temperatures of up to 1200 °C in environments with low sulfur gas content. Additionally, it can be applied to heat-resistant steel castings, making it suitable for furnace construction, piping, and general fittings. A very specialized application for the UTP 68 H electrode is the welding of low-alloy cast steels.
Characteristics
UTP 68 H features excellent weldability in all positions, except for vertical down. It provides a stable arc, produces a spatter-free deposit without undercutting, and results in a smooth bead surface.
Welding Instructions
- Preparation: Clean the welding area and degrease it thoroughly.
- Technique: Use dry electrodes and maintain a short arc. Deposit beads using a stringer bead technique or a slight weaving motion. Do not overheat the weld beads.
- Re-drying: Electrodes that have been exposed to humidity must be re-dried at a temperature between 250 and 300 °C for 2 to 3 hours.
