UTP 81 NON-MACHINABLE (E ST) 3.25 MM X 5KG ELECTRODE

UTP 81 Electrode

Description

UTP 81 features a smooth arc, high deposition efficiency, and low penetration. It offers good weldability properties on cast irons. It is a metal-iron base electrode designed for cast steels with poor weldability and chemically altered cast iron. Non-machinable.

Application Field

UTP 81 is a non-machinable, graphite-coated electrode for welding poor-quality cast iron, including material with sand inclusions, burned, or chemically contaminated surfaces. It is a cost-effective electrode with a deposit that hardens upon cooling.

Welding Instructions

The welding area must be machined to a metallic luster (bright finish). Prepare a U-shaped or double U-shaped groove (the use of UTP 82 AS electrode is recommended for chamfering). Use the lowest possible amperage and a short arc, keeping the electrode in a vertical position. Avoid heat buildup and maintain an interpass temperature of no more than 60°C. Apply as spot welds until the contaminated area to be surfaced is covered. After application, grind each weld spot down to half its thickness.
