ER 4043 Welding Rod / Filler Metal UTP 485

Description

For joining and cladding Al-Si alloys with a silicon content of up to 7%, as well as for various aluminum alloys from the 6XXX series, 5XXX series (up to 2.5% Mg), and aluminum types 1100, 1350, and 3003. It is recommended for maintenance and repair of components in the chemical, food, and agro-industrial sectors, as well as in plate work (boilermaking), mold manufacturing and repair, casting defect correction, and vessels used in the paper and oil industries.

Characteristics

UTP 485 features fast ignition, a clean and flat flow, and dense, pore-free deposits. To achieve excellent joints on sheets with a thickness of 2 mm and above, its coating contains fluxes that help stabilize the arc properly. It provides a smooth arc that is easy to control.

Welding Instructions

Clean the area to be welded. It is advisable to preheat larger parts and castings to 150–200 °C. Guide the electrode vertically with a very short arc. When interrupting the process, remove the slag and restrike the arc over the final crater. Remove slag residues with a 10% caustic soda solution, if necessary.
