Description
It is the most widely used welding alloy and can be classified as a general-purpose filler alloy. WELD 5356 is typically chosen due to its relatively high shear strength. 5XXX alloy base materials with a weld metal chemistry exceeding 3% Mg and service temperatures above 65 °C are susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. This alloy is non-heat treatable.
