Optimal results with the correct cutting speed
The sanding result when working with an angle grinder depends on several factors. Grit size is only one of them. Another important factor is the cutting speed, which is determined by the rotational speed (RPM) of the angle grinder. There is an optimal RPM for each flap mop. When working at this speed, centrifugal force ensures the radial alignment of the flap wheel's flaps.
Always sharp abrasive grain for the job
This achieves a highly uniform sanding pattern that remains constant over time. When using flap wheels face-down or flat, one aspect must be considered: due to their design, flap wheels provide a finer finish than abrasive belts. For this reason, a grit size two or three steps coarser should be selected to achieve the same sanding pattern. This applies to steel as well as to other materials.
