Description
Used for the repair and production of hot-work tools such as forging molds, dies, blades, hot-shear blades, rolling mill rollers, punches, mandrels, and applications on unalloyed and low-alloy base materials.
Weld Metal Properties
Machining is only possible using tungsten carbide tools or other specific specialized tooling.
Welding Instructions
Clean the area to be welded until a metallic luster is achieved; any cracks in the base material must be completely removed. Pre-heat the base material to a temperature of 400 °C or according to the type of base metal. For tool steels, this temperature must be maintained throughout the entire application. If stress relief is required, it should be performed at 550 °C and cooled slowly using thermal insulators.
