ER NiCr-3 Welding Rods
Description
Filler metal particularly suited for MIG welding. It can also be used for TIG and plasma welding.
Ferrite Content
The ferrite number = 10 is calculated according to the nominal composition of the filler metal using the DeLong diagram.
As-Welded Properties
The following values are typical for as-welded MIG deposits without heat treatment, using an argon + 2% oxygen gas mixture, and TIG or plasma deposits using pure argon gas.
TIG Welding
The appropriate polarity is Direct Current Electrode Negative (DCEN) and the shielding gas is pure argon. TIG welding parameters are largely dependent on material thickness and application.
Applications
ER NiCr-3 is suitable for joining chromium-nickel alloy steels, 9% Ni steels for cryogenic service, and carbon steels for high-temperature service.
Ni-Cu alloys and nickel-base steels. It can be used at temperatures up to 1175 °C, in sulfur dioxide atmospheres up to 800 °C, and in ammonia at higher temperatures.
Corrosion Resistance
ER NiCr-3 features excellent resistance to general corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Additionally, its high alloy content provides good resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Recommended parameters for MIG welding
The appropriate polarity is reverse DC (EP) / DCEP.
