CS570 FIBER DISC 115 MM GR80 GREEN ZIRCONIUM

Fiber Disc CS 570

Description

The zirconia alumina abrasive grain used in Klingspor's CS 570 vulcanized fiber discs is a synthetically produced, hard, highly tough abrasive grain with a crystalline structure. The sharp edges of natural abrasive products like quartz, emery, or garnet become rounded after some time, which reduces the sanding effectiveness. Synthetic zirconia alumina reacts differently: when individual parts of the crystalline structure break off, new sharp edges appear. This ensures consistent grinding, continuous stock removal, and a long service life.

Highlights

Grinding metals poses a special challenge for abrasive products. Metals are tough materials that also possess high hardness. Stainless steel and high-alloy steels—so-called superalloys—place the highest demands of all. CS 570 vulcanized fiber discs meet this challenge with a hard, highly tough zirconia alumina abrasive grain and a strong synthetic resin bond on a vulcanized fiber backing. For processing stainless steel and aluminum, the CS 570 fiber disc provides special features:

Prevents Overheating

Vulcanized fiber discs can be used at high temperatures.

Thanks to the cool grinding (multibond) feature, overheating and discoloration of the workpiece metal do not easily occur, even when working with high application pressure and high rotational speeds.

For safety reasons, the maximum operating speed of a fiber disc on a backing pad must not exceed 80 meters per second. The following permissible values help ensure this speed is not exceeded:

Compatible backing pads are available for the CS 570 vulcanized fiber discs in the ST 358 A (hard ribbed) and ST 358 (medium-hard smooth) models. The backing pad should be chosen based on the application. The medium-hard backing pad is suitable for achieving a uniform finish, as it adapts to the contour of the workpiece. This backing pad is ideal for finer sanding work, as well as surface or contour grinding. For coarse grinding jobs with high stock removal, the hard backing pad is used. This is particularly suitable for deburring work and aggressive grinding.
