Description

The formula of the Klingspor PS 21 FK abrasive disc is optimally adapted for coarse grinding and finishing of stainless steel. However, this abrasive product is also very suitable for machining steel and metal. Its most outstanding features are its aggressive grinding performance and long service life.

Klingspor manufactures the PS 21 FK abrasive disc in numerous grit sizes. Additionally, it is available in different diameters.
The PS 21 FK model: highly tough, self-sharpening zirconia alumina on a paper backing.
It features a hook-and-loop fastening system, making it easy to attach to a sander equipped with a hook-and-loop backing pad. It has a heavy F-weight paper backing, onto which the abrasive grain is applied. This grain is made of zirconia alumina which, like all other grain types used by Klingspor, is synthetically manufactured. This ensures consistent quality and uniform characteristics.
Zirconia alumina is hard, very tough, and possesses a uniform crystalline structure. Furthermore, this aggressive abrasive grain is self-sharpening, thereby ensuring a long service life for the abrasive disc.
The zirconia alumina is applied in a closed coat on the paper backing. For this reason, the paper is almost completely covered with abrasive grain. The numerous, closely packed grain points enable high material removal. Additionally, the closed coat extends the service life of the abrasive product.
It is mainly used for abrasive sheets, discs, belts, and other abrasive products for machining steel and metal. At Klingspor, the abrasive grain is always anchored to the backing using a bonding agent. The top coat, also known as the size coat, further improves anchoring.
In all Klingspor abrasive products, this is made of synthetic resin, which is distinguished by its high strength and adhesive power. The size coat also supports the abrasive grain against lateral forces acting during the grinding process. For this reason, the quality and thickness of the size coat—which, in Klingspor's formulations, is always tailored to the specific product—also has a major influence on its service life.
