Description

The formulation of the Klingspor PS 21 FK abrasive disc is optimally adapted for coarse sanding and finishing of stainless steel. However, this abrasive product is also highly suitable for machining steel and metal. Its most outstanding features are its aggressive sanding performance and long service life.

Product Highlights

Klingspor manufactures the PS 21 FK abrasive disc in numerous grit sizes. Additionally, it is available in different diameters.
The PS 21 FK model: Very tough, self-sharpening zirconia alumina on a paper backing.
It features a hook and loop system, allowing it to be easily attached to a sander equipped with a hook and loop backing pad. It has a heavy F-weight paper backing. The abrasive grain is applied to this backing. It is made of zirconia alumina which, like all other types of abrasive grain used by Klingspor, is synthetically manufactured. This ensures consistent quality and uniform properties at all times.
Zirconia alumina is hard and very tough, possessing a uniform crystalline structure. Furthermore, this aggressive abrasive grain is self-sharpening. In this way, it ensures a long service life for the abrasive disc.
The zirconia alumina is applied in a close coat distribution on the paper backing. For this reason, the paper is almost completely covered with abrasive grain. The numerous grain points situated close together enable high material removal. Additionally, the close coat also extends the service life of the abrasive product.
It is mainly used for abrasive sheets, discs, belts, and other abrasive products for machining steel and metal. At Klingspor, the abrasive grain is always anchored to the backing using a bonding agent. The top coat, also known as the size coat, further improves anchoring.
In all Klingspor abrasive products, it is made of synthetic resin, which is distinguished by its high strength and adhesive power. The top coat also supports the abrasive grain against lateral forces acting during the sanding process. Therefore, the quality and thickness of the top coat—which, in Klingspor's formulation, is always tailored to the specific product—also has a major influence on its service life.
