Highlights
- When the equipment is not in use, make sure the electrode circuit does not come into contact with the work area or the ground. Accidental contact could cause these parts to overheat and pose a fire hazard.
- Do not heat, cut, or weld tanks, drums, or containers until you have ensured that such procedures will not release flammable or toxic vapors from inside. These can cause explosions even if the containers have been "cleaned."
- The welding arc produces sparks and spatter. Wear protective clothing, such as leather gloves, heavy shirts, cuffless pants, high boots, and a skull cap or welding hat. Wear ear protection when welding in non-standard locations or confined spaces. Always wear safety glasses with side shields when in the work area.
