Description
Used for the repair and production of hot-work tools such as forging molds, dies, blades, hot-shear blades, rolling mill rollers, punches, mandrels, and applications on unalloyed and low-alloy base materials.
Machining is possible only with tungsten carbide tools or other specialized tooling.
Welding Instructions
Clean the welding area until a metallic luster is achieved. Any cracks in the base material must be completely removed. Preload the base material to a temperature of 400°C or according to the specific type of base metal. For tool steels, this temperature must be maintained throughout the entire application. If stress relieving is required, it should be performed at 550°C, followed by slow cooling in thermal insulators.
Key Terminology Used:
- Hot-work tools: Tools designed to operate at high temperatures.
- Forging molds/dies: Specific tools used in the forging process.
- Metallic luster: The "brillo metálico" required for proper weld adhesion.
- Stress relieving: The process of "alivio de tensiones" to prevent cracking.
- Thermal insulators: Materials used for "enfriado lento" (slow cooling), such as vermiculite or sand.
