ST 358 Backing Pad
Description
For grinding with a high material removal rate, it is essential to have highly robust and resistant abrasive products. For this reason, fibre discs—meaning abrasive discs with a vulcanised fibre backing—are primarily used. For fine finishing and surface grinding, a flexible backing pad, such as the Klingspor ST 358 model, is more suitable.

- The medium-hard ST 358 backing pad is flexible and conforms to the contours of the workpiece. It can be used universally, particularly for fine finishing and surface grinding, and offers good thermal resistance.
- The medium-hard ST 358 backing pad comes equipped with a clamping nut for fibre discs. Care must be taken to ensure that the backing pad diameter and the abrasive disc size are compatible. The ST 358 model is available in standard industry sizes.
- Grinding at high speeds allows for a high material removal rate. For each disc size, a maximum permissible speed is specified that must not be exceeded:
- 13,300 RPM for a 115 mm disc diameter
- 12,200 RPM for a 125 mm disc diameter
- 8,500 RPM for a 180 mm disc diameter
