UTP 48 Electrode

Characteristics

UTP 48 features rapid ignition, a clean and flat flow, and dense, pore-free deposits. It is designed to achieve excellent joints on sheets with a thickness of 2 mm and above.

Applications

Joining and surfacing of wrought and cast alloys of the types Al-Si, Al-Mg-Si, and Al-Si-Mg-Cu.

Welding Instructions

  • Preparation: Clean the area to be welded thoroughly.
  • Preheating: It is advisable to preheat larger parts and castings to 150–200 °C.
  • Technique: Guide the electrode vertically with a very short arc.
  • Interruption: When interrupting the weld, remove the slag and reignite the arc over the final crater.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, remove slag residues using a 10% caustic soda solution.
