UTP 39 (UTP 485)
Description
UTP 39 produces pore-free and crack-resistant beads. Its corrosion resistance is equal to that of the highest commercial grades of copper.
UTP 39 is used for joining and surfacing commercial types of pure copper and copper-nickel alloys, for example:
DIN 1787: C-Cu, D-Cu, F-Cu, E-Cu, SA-Cu, SB-Cu, SD-C, SE-Cu, SF-Cu.
Welding Instructions
- Preparation: Clean the workpiece thoroughly. For thicknesses exceeding 5 mm, joints must be beveled with a 90° opening angle.
- Preheating: Heavy-walled parts should be preheated between 150 and 250 °C.
- Technique: Hold the electrode in a vertical position with a slight oscillation. Aim for high travel speed to prevent overheating.
- Electrode Condition: Weld only with completely dry electrodes. Prior to application, electrodes must be reconditioned for 2 to 3 hours at 150 °C.
