UTP AF Vanadium 500 Wire
Description
A self-shielded metal-cored tubular wire primarily developed for chapisco (arcing/texturing) applications on sugar mill rolls. It is designed to improve bagasse grip and prevent excessive wear on the roll tooth profiles. Its special alloy, based on chromium and vanadium carbides, provides an application of finely and homogeneously distributed droplets.
Characteristics
UTP AF VANADIUM 500 deposits a weld metal composed of chromium and vanadium carbide alloys in the form of small, hard, and abrasive globules. These provide excellent wear resistance and increase the surface area for bagasse traction on the roll. Its formulation is designed for application both during the crushing season (while the mill is running) or during the maintenance season.
Welding Instructions
UTP AF VANADIUM 500 is deposited on the flanks of the roll teeth while the roll is rotating at high speeds between 5 to 7 RPM (with the mill in operation). This process creates a rough surface that significantly increases cane traction.
